Watson is the newest series premiering tonight on CBS at 10 pm EST, starring Morris Chestnut in the titular role. The newest adaption of John H. Watson, famously depicted in the Sherlock Holmes mysteries by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the second adaption from CBS ( the first being Elementary) that follows the titular character six months after the death of his friend Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Holmes' nemesis James Moriarty. Resuming his life with money left to him in Holmes' will, Watson opens 'Holmes Clinic' in Pittsburg. Together with a group of distinguished doctors, he dedicates himself to helping those with rare medical disorders however Watson must confront his past when evidence indicates Moriarty is still alive.
Produced by CBS Studios and created by Craig Sweeney, executive producers include Chestnut in the highly anticipated series. Watson is described as a modern version of one of history's greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.

The series stars:
Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson
Eve Harlow as Dr. Ingrid Derian
Tommy O'Brien as Zach
Inga Schlingmann as Dr. Sasha Lubbock
Rochelle Aytes as Mary Morstan
Peter Mark Kendall as Stephens Croft/ Adam Croft
Ritchie Coster as Shinwell Johnson

This series, unlike its predecessor, delves into a life after Sherlock Holmes, focused exclusively on Watson working on the most complex medical cases with detective skills to solve and treat the cases of his patients. At the heart of the series is a suspenseful and deeply moving emotional drama and Watson delivers a highly engaging series from most of the recent premiers this month. Chestnut, ever dependable, shines as the veteran actor with an expansive portfolio that includes hits such as Boyz n the Hood and The Best Man franchise delivers a supremely confident and accomplished doctor who deeply cares about his patients with an unorthodox, acute view of looking beyond the surface.
Out of the five episodes available to critics, episode 5 is a standout, raising ethical questions prevalent in today's medical system. One of the highlights of the series is that fans do not have to be entrenched in the Sherlock Holmes mysteries to be engaged in the series. Chestnut's commanding presence brings authenticity to the character without the backstory of the Sherlock Holmes lore. The series stands on its own as a highly entertaining medical drama with its engaging premise and sustainable supporting characters, each with their quirky, individual personalities that make the series compelling to watch.
Watson premiers tonight after the AFC championship game on CBS, with new episodes released on Sundays at 9 pm EST in its regular time slot. The series will also be available to stream on Paramount+.
