If you haven't watched "Mid-Century Modern," Hulu's latest series that premiered on March 28 with 10 episodes, you're missing out on one of the funniest and most laugh-out-loud comedy series to date.
Created by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, best known for "Will and Grace" with executive producers Ryan Murphy and James Burrows, the series stars Nathan Lane as Bunny Schneiderman, Matt Bomer as Jerry Frank, and Nathan Lee Graham as Arthur Broussard, three gay best friends who decide to live out their golden years by living together in Palm Springs with Bunny's over the top mother Sybil (the late Linda Lavin). The series pays homage to The Golden Girls in the best possible way as the vibrant series comes to life with comedic zingers and vibrant personalities.
When rich and flamboyant Bunny, who lives with his mother, grapples with the idea of being alone, he comes up with the perfect idea and asks his two best friends to live with him, Jerry, the hunky but simplistic flight attendant, and Arthur, the boogie fashion expert who was recently fired from Vogue. The trio finds themselves in hilarious situations in each episode leading up to the finale.
The fantastic Lavin, who sadly passed away midway through production last year, was the anchor of the series. Her death was incorporated into the last two episodes, leaving fans wondering how the series would fill the void if Season 2 were greenlit.
"Mid-Century Modern" hits a nostalgic note for the sitcom era, blending charm and humor with modern-day themes, making it a worthy series to add to your binge list.
All episodes of Mid-Century Modern are currently streaming on Hulu.
